What this guide covers: reading the institution tree, creating a new institution, editing one, and reparenting one into a different part of the tree.
The treeThe institution tree
Found at Authority Administration → Institutions & Offices. The tree is scoped server-side to your own administration subtree — unless you're a platform super admin, you simply can't see institutions outside it, no matter what the UI shows. Each node shows per-node counts (users, positions, etc.) so you can gauge how populated a branch is before you touch it.
Institution types: national department, provincial department, district vet office, municipal authority, state vet, authorised private vet, animal health technician, border authority, regional body, or other.
Creating an institutionCreating an institution
Click Create Institution and fill in its name, official and short name, type, institution code, parent institution, administrative area, and contact details.
Reparenting
To move an institution to a different parent, open it and choose Reparent — pick a new parent (its own descendants are excluded from the list, so you can't create a loop), run the preview to see the effect, add a reason, then confirm. The preview and the real move share the same validation, so what you see in preview is exactly what happens on save.
