Veterinary Service Areas

Who's responsible for which area, for routing purposes — normally tied to a position, with a deliberate emergency path for assigning a person directly when there's no time to wait for a proper appointment.

The register

The register

Found at Authority Administration → Veterinary Service Areas. Columns: Type, Institution, Target (a position's title, or "Direct person (emergency)"), Species/Disease, Priority, Occupant, Health (a routing-health warning chip, or "Healthy").

Assigning

Assigning a responsibility

Click Assign Responsibility: pick the institution, then either a position (the normal path) or, in emergency mode, a direct authority user; then an administrative area, species/ disease, priority, and effective dates. A conflict preview runs before you can save, so an overlapping assignment is caught up front rather than after the fact.

Emergency direct-person assignment exists for exactly what it sounds like — a gap that needs covering right now, before a proper position can be created and filled. It's treated as an explicit exception in the UI, not an equal alternative to the position-based path.
Routing impact

Routing health & impact

Each row has its own Routing Impact preview — before you edit or deactivate a responsibility, it shows what would actually change in holding routing as a result. This preview is report-only: it never touches a manual override you've set elsewhere. Deactivate requires a reason, same as elsewhere in Administration.
