What this guide covers: the Holdings registry, verifying a holding's canonical geography, and assigning its responsible veterinary contact.
What it doesn't cover: full holding management (camps, animals, movements) — that's the organisation's own Holdings & Camps page in LITS; this Authority view is read-only.
OverviewThe registry
Found at Authority → Holdings. Table columns: Location Type (farm, auction house, feedlot, abattoir, communal area, dip tank, border post, quarantine facility, veterinary checkpoint, holding pen, transport hub, other), Name & code, Registration number, Camps count, Status. Filters: location type, province, district, search. Hero KPIs: total holdings, active on page, without GLN, with camps.
Click any row to open a detail drawer with identification (registration number, internal code, organisation id), a read-only camps/paddocks list, and shortcut links into Animals and Movements filtered to this holding.
Canonical geographyCanonical geography
The detail drawer's Canonical Geography section shows the holding's location resolution status and its resolved administrative area. If it needs checking, click Verify Location to open the verification dialog and confirm or correct the administrative area — this is the authorised write path that keeps routing (which vet, which jurisdiction) accurate.
Responsible contactResponsible Veterinary Contact
The same drawer's Responsible Veterinary Contact section lets you assign or change the Primary State Vet, Provincial Director, and any number of Alternates for this holding, with a full assignment history below it.
