What this guide covers: registering a holding (a farm or production unit) and the camps (paddocks) within it — the two location concepts every animal, movement and event in LITS is ultimately anchored to.
What it doesn't cover: a holding's GS1 GLN identity and public permit-verification links, which are an Authority-side registry — see Location Verification & Movement Tracking.
HoldingsHoldings
Found at LITS → Holdings — a two-pane screen. The left pane lists your holdings: name, a link to the site record, registration number, and an active/inactive flag. Click New Holding to register one.
A holding also carries a location type — farm, auction house, feedlot, abattoir, communal area, dip tank, border post, quarantine facility, vet checkpoint, holding pen, transport hub, or other — and, behind the scenes, the administrative-area geography that determines which Authority jurisdiction and which veterinary service area it routes to. That routing is set up and verified from the Authority side, not from this screen.
CampsCamps
Select a holding in the left pane and its camps (paddocks) appear on the right, with a small stats strip — total camps, active camps, hectares mapped. Click New Camp to add one: name, area in hectares, and an active flag. Camps are what the Animals page's Camp Board view and per-animal camp assignment are built on.
Responsible Authority ContactResponsible Authority Contact
Selecting a holding also shows a read-only Responsible Authority Contact panel — the Primary State Vet or Provincial Director assigned to that holding's veterinary service area, if one has been assigned. If nobody has been assigned yet, the panel says so plainly rather than showing a blank.
