Field Capture

The form staff actually use in the field — pick an event type, fill in what's relevant to it, and submit. This is where most of an animal's real history gets recorded.

What this guide covers: the full event-type picker Field Capture offers, and the FMD vaccination sub-form in particular, since it's by far the most involved one.

Event types

The sixteen event types

Found at LITS → Field Capture. Pick an event type and the form reveals only the fields relevant to it:

  • Inspection, biosafety check, disease suspicion, permit checked — compliance and monitoring events.
  • Treatment — medicine product and dose.
  • Vaccination — vaccine batch.
  • FMD vaccination — see below.
  • Weigh event — weight.
  • Loading / offloading — vehicle registration and driver.
  • Movement in / movement out — origin or destination.
  • Birth, death, quarantine start / end — lifecycle events.

A recent-events feed (last 10) sits alongside the form so you can see what's just been captured.

FMD vaccination

The FMD vaccination sub-form

This is the most detailed capture flow in LITS, because it feeds a court-order-compliant vaccination campaign:

  1. Pick an active FMD campaign — the form immediately surfaces readiness warnings if the notice hasn't been sent yet, the waiting period hasn't ended, the holding is wrong, or the batch isn't active, is expired, or is cold-chain non-compliant.
  2. Pick the animal — its active identifier count loads, and you're warned if it has no active tag ("not affidavit-ready").
  3. Pick the vaccine batch — its cold-chain compliance status and log entries load so you can attach them.
  4. Capture the temperature at administration. Outside the batch's required range, this flags a deviation that you must explicitly acknowledge before you can submit.
  5. Record dose, unit, method, route, and whether this is a first dose or a booster.
Stock consumption

Stock consumption on submit

Submitting a treatment or FMD vaccination event can automatically decrement Finance stock for the product used. The response shows this as a banner, and the wording is deliberately neutral — pending states are not failures:
